i'm back from the dead, exhumed from the sands and dust of tekong. Was there for a whole week, and over the course of those seven days i ate less than your standard ten course meal, showered thrice and did things that was generally grievious and torturous.

But i'm here and am ok.

Anyways i've just been chilling around, trying to get back into the groove. Picked up a 4cd boxed set of classic chillout jazz gems from tower, which features theolonius monk and miles davis and john coltrane on it. Lovely stuff to just bum out to, or fall asleep on the couch to.

After sarah's wedding, i had a privilege to catch Interstella 5555 as part of the Animation Film Fest hosted by the Singapore Film Society. Classic retro anime pumped by the irresistibly cool house beats by Daft Punk. Pure genius, it's one of the few must-see gems of last year and this year. Makes me wonder why i didn't get Discovery back then.

And for those who don't already know enough people, here's a way to widen your social cirle.

I've got till tuesday noon to get stoned enough. Later.

Six Things I Learnt From The Recent Episode Of Friends That I Watched (The One With The Cake)

1. If you want to try out something that you read in Maxim with your wife, rent a hotel room in Vermont to do it. It's sexier.

2. However, racing wind-up toys to decide who gets to leave a messed-up birthday bash first is more fun than the abovementioned.

3. Do not go to New Jersey to pick up a special cake from a novelty cake shop for your daughter's first birthday. The shop also does adult cakes, and they will invariably mess up your order, causing you to rush back to them to fix it.

4. When picking a wind-up toy to race your friends with, do not pick the puppy. It moves slowly and jumps around away from the end point. Pick the robot instead.

5. Emma's name rhymes with Richard Crenna, who played the commanding officer in Rambo.

6. Phallic cakes can be reshaped to form those resembling furry domesticated wildlife.

Don't you just love Friends? So sad it's the last season. But all good things must come to an end. You bet i'll miss them. (sob.)

less, meaning

if i got a kiss for each smile you gave me i would
not have this acute
heartache
which leads me off into your secret courtesy, this congenial bedlam.

Circumnavigate her volatile jurisprudence;
a crumple in the line,
her pantheon of words.
It's not too hard.
Try to understand that. Try to stay awake. Try to try. Tried to try.
Tired.
Made my bed in hell and quietly
waited for the rapture.

Woke up to the afternoon moon and this impossible verse, this cunning consequence. Furtively depressed, you and i went,
etherized
into the place we knew was real and true
but not
ours.

Bask in the afterglow.
Before you come undone and
are suitably stigmatized.

Soar on wings of eagles. By stripes of his are we
healed.

Pinned up and all you can say is la
la la.
Tenderly you chewed up the
old Elvis gospel record.
Have you found what you were looking for?

When you do put your mind to it and think
deeply about it you realise that the pain
and the aches
and the fakes
are all priced affordably and
pierced accordingly.

Give me not as the world gives.

Have i found it?
Our beautiful sadness
How could you.

had a day out on the beach today. Sentosa was way crowded on this vesak day if you ask me. I hadn't the faintest intention of entering the water. And so all i was prepared to do was to lie in my hammock with the sea breeze blowing in my hair and fall asleep while reading Jung's Aspects of the Feminine. Which, er, was exactly what i did.
But of course, i couldn't get very much cos of those two little hyperactive jack terrier pupps belonging to my cousins which were scurrying around me. Plus the attention that they were garnering from the bevy of young ladies that were passing by kept me up incessantly.
So I got up and took a stroll along the coastline. When i hadn't gotten very far down I bumped into celine and her posse, having mentoring. They noisily proclaimed that i appeared very much lost. Which was of course not wrong, for i had no idea why my parents had dragged me out there. But by then in the afternoon i had pretty much settled into a chilled out, laid back mood that i didn't really mind doing nothing on this beach.

If i learnt one thing today it's that singapore has a darned long way in reaching the progressive, open-minded society that we very much long for. I mean, who would wanna hit the beach if they can't sunbathe topless? Bar-top dancing? Bungee jumping? Goodness. Other people were doing it back in the 70s! So we should liberalise further, relax some more laws and loosen those bikini strings. I think that while singaporean women look pretty fine in their swimwear, it wouldn't hurt to get a full uninhibited tan once in a while. We get so much sunshine here at the equator anyway.

lucas. out.
